Brilliant!

The Poker Penguin: "Poker is about folding hands that don't have a good chance of winning.

That's it. The Penguin's new most sage piece of advice ever, based on the perhaps six hours play since his return.

Fold hands that don't stand a good chance of winning."

party poker regKey

Cheap Thrills

So I went online and read about possible solutions. One person said to delete all my cookies, and then go through my registry (run regedit) and delete anything with a reference to Party Poker. I did that. No go.

The solution turned out to be this, which I got from the forums at bonuswhores.com:
You just have to delete the cookie reg key.

Its under Current User > Local Machine > Software > Calculator > UCID key.

That's what freezes more than 1 party skin.

100% bonus

This is gonna be hard to pass up. $600 in free money.

Hi Tilters,

We hope you've been enjoying your time on Full Tilt Poker.

We understand that many of you play here as a way of sharpening your skills. We heartily approve. Books can help you learn the game, but we find that nothing is as important as experience.

And if you've been thinking about taking it to the next level to see if you can hold your own against the money players, there has never been a better time to find out.

Right now, your deposit will go a long way. For as little as $4.40, you can play in a sit and go that could ultimately win you a seat in the Foxwoods $10,000 WPT Event. Or play a cash game. We have games as small as $.05 - $.10, where you can buy-in for only $2 and play against the likes of Chris Ferguson and Howard Lederer. We can't think of a better way to gauge how your mastery of the game is coming along. Maybe you'll discover that you're ready for the next step. Or perhaps find out that you need to spend a little more time learning and studying on FullTiltPoker.net.

If you decide to try us before October 31, we have a 100% Deposit Bonus for new customers. Play in our raked games, earn bonus points, and we will match your bonus 100%, up to $600.

If you think you're ready, now is the time to find out. And if not, please continue to enjoy our games at FullTiltPoker.net.

Good news for Dr Pauly

Nicky professes her love for a NY writer: "Nicky Hilton has apparently decided that whole 'until death do us part' scenario really isn't for her. ...the heiress is preparing to file for an annulment after two months of not-quite-wedded bliss to money manager Todd Meister, 33, reports Us Weekly."

A Jewish liberal New Yorker on why she is voting for Bush

The Command Post - Op-Ed - A Jewish liberal New Yorker on why she is voting for Bush: "Why This Lifelong Jewish Liberal is Voting Republican"

Home game

Played in a home game for the first time in a long time. Many of the scheduled players had expressed interest in playing a tournamnent. We only had 8 folks respond, so I'm thinking a nice SnG would work fine.

I used the structure from www.HomePokerTourney.com, $20 buy in, T1000. Rebuys during the first 4 levels, and 1 $10 T600 add-on after level 3.
Total pot ended up at $180, split 50, 30, 20%.

We had five show up. Dom regaled with his Vegas trip report from the previous weekend, where he sobered up enough to realize that the huge stack he was playing blackjack with was black, and worth over 17k. He ran it up to 20k before going on a huge wealth redistribution program, and giving money back to the house. Dom turned out to be a decent player, using position well. He also kept the table running as smooth as possible.

Sumit quickly put Rob on tilt with his play, sucking out on many occasions. Rob bought back in twice. After winning one big pot and becoming the big stack, with about T3000, Sumit would overbet the pot 5xBB PF, and scare everyone else out. When Rob called him down, Sumit would hit his 2 pair and take the chips.

Bryan was trying to do his best Moneymaker impression, but betting wearing sunglasses while you blush just doesn't work.

Eventually I had a hand I felt I could the S-man down with. Pocket K's. Sumit had been playing alot of face-x, so I was pretty sure I was good.
blinds are 25-50, Sumit comes in at 200. I re-raise to 400. He calls.
Flop is 9xx, no Aces. He raises 200, I reraise to 800. He calls. Turn is an Ace He checks. I raise 500. he calls. River is a 9. I'm all in. he calls, and flips over a pair of 2's. Sweet.

This was 4 or 5 times as much fun as Party, and I made more money, up $60.

Rob managed to calm down, and fight his way into 2nd. Finish was me, Rob, Bryan, Dom, Sumit.

Ads

Well, I've decided that there is more bonus whoring than casino's.

Following the example set by the Blogfather, I've added Google ads. Support Iggy by clicking on his ads.

Table selection

Table selection is one of the key skills you need to maximize your profits. On Party/Empire, I look for tables where most of the players are below the default buy-in. I'll jump on and watch for an orbit, to see how many are seeing the flop. I like to have at least 4 players pay to see the flop, and up to 6 fora full table. If everyone is seeing the flop, be prepared to have someone suckout on you all the time.

asphnxma: "Online, it's even easier to switch tables, and changes in table conditions occur even more rapidly than in a B&M poker room. Tables can go from extremely profitable to rock garden within the span of a few hands. There is absolutely no reason a player should ever feel compelled to stay at an unprofitable online table, whether the source of the problem is opponents who are maniacs or opponents who are rocks, or even opponents who are cagey, expert players. There is always another, more profitable table that is just a few mouse-clicks away. It may take a few tries to find it, and the profitable table conditions may evaporate within a few orbits of finding it, but it's out there.

Newer players should learn that this is a choice they can take advantage of. Table selection can and should be an active choice on the player's part, rather than a passive choice of sitting down (and staying) at the first available table, no matter what the conditions. To do anything less is to miss an opportunity to maximize EV."

That's Party Poker

Party Poker 0.5/1 Hold'em (7 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is SB with Kc, 9c. CO posts a blind of $0.5.

UTG folds, MP1 folds, MP2 calls, CO (poster) checks, Button (VP$IP54%) calls, Hero completes, BB checks.

Flop: (5 SB) 3h, Kd, 9s (5 players)
(Typical, 5 to see flop. )

Hero bets
, BB folds, MP2 folds, CO calls, VP$IP54% raises, Hero 3-bets, CO calls, VP$IP54% caps, Hero calls, CO calls.

(Wow, capped at the flop. WTH does he have? I have top 2 pr...KK for trips?)

Turn: (8.50 BB) 4d (3 players)

Hero bets
, CO calls, VP$IP54% calls.

(Strange... I would have expected a raise after the flop madness. I think I'm still good here.)

River: (11.50 BB) 4h (3 players)

Hero bets
, CO calls, VP$IP54% raises, Hero 3-bets, CO folds, VP$IP54% calls.
( Why in the world did the CO call, and then fold?. Why the call from VP54, and now a raise? Could he have a pocket pair, and now 2 pair on the board? Boat?)

Final Pot: 18.50 BB

Results in tan below:

VP$IP54% has Ad Ac (two pair, aces and fours).

Hero has Kc 9c (two pair, kings and nines).

Outcome: VP$IP54% wins 18.50 BB

Well, that's Poker. Party Poker.

Leaks

I know I have many leaks in my game.

After loading up all my histories into PT, and using the auto-icon feature (rules from bisonbison on 2+2)

VP$IP is 43%. Yikes. This is the biggest thing to fix, right now. Time to break out the books, and reinforce my starting hands.

Foot in mouth

I jumped on empire about 11 ET, looking for SirFWALGman's private table. Spotted Al Cant Hang on the buddy list, and started watching the table. Recognized Helixx
as well.

As I was waiting for an opening in the blogger table (see previous post)I made a smart ass comment about not being a dwarf, not realizing Iggy was there.

So.
I'm sorry. No offense intended, and I think none taken, but an apology is in order anyway.

Unless you REALLY drink Zima. Then words escape me.

Pauly's straight flush

Another blogger table. I left in the interesting parts… all the table chat. And Pauly’s Straight-flush. Stuff I managed to NOT get a HH on..Iggy check raising pre-flop.

I ended up 20 for the night. Had a blast, as the chat made it very easy to fold marginal hands. The deck did hit me hard a few times, as AK, and AA held up.
